Many people have asked how I managed to fit a 2" filter inside the Samyang 135mm f/2 lens — so here’s how I did it.
First of all, if you’re using a Samyang 135mm f/2 lens with a Canon EF mount and a dedicated astro camera, there are ready-made adapters with built-in filter holders available — so this guide isn’t for you.
This tutorial is for those who want to attach a 2" filter to a Samyang 135mm f/2 lens used with mirrorless cameras. I have one for Sony mirrorless cameras.
First, remove the three screws that secure the extension barrel located between the lens body and the mounting plate.
Inside the extension is an inner tube. This can be unscrewed if you remove the mount plate first.
I purchased a 52–48mm step-down ring and securely super-glued it to the inside of the mounting plate.
And here it is with a filter inside.
Reattach the extension barrel — and that’s it! You’re all set. Enjoy!
